Mary-Anne Gontsana was born and bred in Cape Town and lives in Montevideo. She has been a reporter for the online news website GroundUp since the start of 2012.
She studied journalism at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. She has had work experience at the Cape Times, Cape Town TV and as a community journalist for the health TV show Siyayinqoba Beat It! She reports on social justice issues in Cape Flats communities
