Warren Ludski is a former Cape Town journalist who now lives in Canberra, Australia. He worked for The Cape Post for five years from 1967 until it was shut down in 1972, and from 1973 to 1986 for the Cape Herald. Both publications targeted the black communities of the Cape Flats.
Although he reported on everything from crime, courts and human interest through to politics, it was entertainment reporting that was a constant throughout his journalistic career in Cape Town. He covered the music scene in Cape Town when Jonathan Butler was a precocious teenybopper, Abdullah Ibrahim was still Dollar Brand, and Taliep Petersen and Zane Adams were trying to make a name for themselves!
He now writes a blog dedicated to telling the stories of Cape Town entertainers who could be regarded as “legends” in the community — artists who have been in the entertainment game for 40 years or more. His blog is called Music Legends of Cape Town — Warren Ludski Talks to the Elders. In time he hopes it will be a single source of information on our entertainment veterans whose legacy needs to be documented. He welcomes contributions and comments on his blog.
