Gasant Abarder is editor of the Cape Argus, his second tenure in charge of the newspaper. Previously Abarder was also the editor of the Cape Times and has extensive broadcasting experience, having worked for eNCA, the SABC and Eyewitness News.
 
Abarder has also served as deputy chairman of the SA National Editor’s Forum as well as in the capacity as Western Cape regional chairman. In 2013, he was included in the Mail and Guardian‘s 200 Young South Africans Publication.
 
Abarder is married to Laylaa and has three children – Ziyaad,10, Kehara, 6, and Misha, 3. He is a keen cyclist and recently started playing golf
