Sibusiso grew up in Sebokeng, a township near the two industrial Vaal Triangle towns, Vereeniging and Vanderbjilpark. He spent his adolescent years in the small gold mining town of Welkom before pursuing his tertiary studies at the University of the Free State.
Sibusiso’s writing has appeared in the Daily Maverick, the City Press and allAfrica.com. He is also a contributor to the popular media commentary and culture blog, Africa is a Country as well as the Mail & Guardian’s opinion platform, Thoughtleader.
Currently, Sibusiso writes for the GroundUp journalism project, a news and opinion platform for marginalized communities.
